A Day Off {my sewing adventure}

I have had a love of crafts for as long as I can remember. I recently taught myself how to crochet, made quilts by hand, spent years cross stitching and have tried my hand at countless other crafts through the years. My mother and I have collaborated and made a bunch of sewing projects, but I have never sewed by myself. The return of nice weather and the last few VERY busy weeks with work prompted me to get creative and make something. I found a fun pattern online and set my mind up to make my daughter a dress. Mom let me borrow the sewing machine her mother gave her years ago. I had SO much fun. This little machine clunked away, made noises in revolt of the 3 or 4 layers of cloth it had to sew through, but treated me kindly in the end and helped me make this pretty little dress for Lily. It is far from perfect, but I’m proud of it. Kaylen wants one just like it. I’m sure I’ll be able to do better with hers, now that I have an idea of the mistakes I made the first time through. I thought I’d share a little of my day off with you. Of course, I had to take a few photos to share.

    The dress and your daughter is sooo cute. Just wanted you to know have been raving about you at work and some of our patients with their new bundles of joy saw your work so don’t be surprised if you get very busy with requests.

    I was going to say that it reminded me of a Matilda Jane as well…Alayna has one in the same pattern. I purchased a couple of dresses on the internet from moms that were fund raising to adopt. I love that style! It really looks really cute layered with a long sleeve shirt and jeans during the winter months. Great job, Woman!!
